What is Quantum Engineering ?

Quantum engineering is a novel domain of research, built on fundamental research carried out in the last 20 years all over the world.
Based on the most intriguing and counter-intuitive aspects of the quantum theory, quantum technologies offer radically new materials and devices for the next century, in sectors such as security, energy, communications, or healthcare. To transform such disruptive scientific concepts into real life benefits it is crucial to develop research aiming at higher technology readiness levels. These challenging goals will be addressed within our project Quantum Engineering Grenoble.

To ensure that Europe takes the leadership in this coming quantum revolution, we must develop a highly connected ecosystem for quantum technologies, building on a network of high level expertises. The main ambition of our pluridisciplinary board is to foster interfaces between different areas of knowledge, and to create synergies and short loops between academy and industry.

A fundamental ambition of our project is to train the next generations of quantum engineers. With this aim, Grenoble hosts two PhD programmes: The QuEnG doctoral programme funded by the Idex-UGA, and the GreQue doctoral programme funded by the Marie-Sklodowska Curie Actions within European Union H2020. The laureates will join our network along 4 calls taking place in Spring and Autumn 2017 and 2018.
